a person regarded as having access to, and influence in, the world of good and evil spirits, esp. among some peoples of northern Asia and North America. Typically such people enter a trance state during a ritual, and practice divination and healing.

We all live on the same planet. There is not a culture on the planet that does not share a relationship to the earth, air, water and fire. All cultures have people like me who were raised with spirits, herbs, candles, oils and incense. We live every day speaking to the creator, singing and dancing. We have gathered plants, drift wood, shells, stones and feathers. We make art and share kinship with animals. We see plants as living beings with spirits and we know life comes from the Sun and is moved by the Moon. We know water can cleanse the spirit and the wind can steal it.
Every woman I ever called friend, studied healing and did some form of magic or ritual; in private and sometimes with others. We all studied Astrology and had visions. We read the clouds, cards, tea leaves, coffee grounds, signs and numbers. We’ve all had mystical experiences and periods of deep prayer, meditation and fasting.
Everyone of us thought conventional religion was odd to say the least. But I try to respect the beliefs of others because I want the same.
My ancestors were conquered by feudal lords and forced to work the lands they stole from us. They called us serfs.

Their religions were forced upon us in order to control us with fear. This is happening today in this country and almost every other.
1 in 6 humans alive today have been tortured. This can only happen because we are divided. The time has come for us to decide between honor and slavery.
All the people who call the earth mother and live with honor, have been persecuted by those who have no honor.
What is known as the New Age is nothing new, I was raised with these things. They are sacred to me.
